DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.60115 ABSTRACT In order to improve the reliability of power transmission lines, one of the key issues is to reduce the hazard of contamination flashovers. At the present time, the most efficient way is to clean (or replace) the heavily polluted insulators. This study laboratory based tests were carried out on the model under ac voltage at different pollution levels. A new model based on artificial neural network has been developed to predict flashover from the analysis of leakage current. The input variable to the artificial neural network are mean (Imean), maximum (Imax), and standard deviation (I) of leakage current extracted along with the input voltage (V) and relative humidity (RH). The target obtained was used to evaluate the performance of the neural network model. The comparison of the simulated and actual (measured) results demonstrates that the ESDD prediction model from the stage characteristics.

Analysis of Leakage Current to Predict Insulator Flashover Using Artificial Neural Network

Problem statement: The phenomenon of flashover in polluted insulators has been continued by the study of the characteristics of contaminating layers deposited on the surface of insulators in high voltage laboratories. In the literature, Experimental investigations have been carried out on a real insulator or a flat plate model of insulators under high voltage application. This study proposed th...

Modeling Ac Arc Re-ignition Conditions on Ice -covered Insulators Using Artificial Neural Networks

The propagation of local arcs are necessary for a flashover to occur on an ice-covered insulator. It was supposed that the local AC arc extended when it satisfied the arc re-ignition conditions. In this paper an attempt has been made to model Va = f ( I , L , x ) for estimating the arc re-ignition conditions as function of leakage current and insulator length using multi-layer feed-forward neur...

Analysis of Flashover Voltages of Disc Type Insulator under Artificial Pollution Condition (TECHNICAL NOTE)

Through this paper work we have analyzed the effect of different contaminants on the flashover by creating artificial pollution condition, considering the natural condition where more than one salt as contaminant deposits on the surface of insulator at a time, under the wet condition that cause flow of highly leakage current, that leads to flashover. We choses the mixture of different salts, so...

Improvement of a Nano-scale Silicon on Insulator Field Effect Transistor Performance using Electrode, Doping and Buried Oxide Engineering

In this work, a novel Silicon on Insulator (SOI) MOSFET is proposed and investigated. The drain and source electrode structures are optimized to enhance ON-current while global device temperature and hot carrier injection are decreased. In addition, to create an effective heat passage from channel to outside of the device, a silicon region has embedded in the buried oxide. In order to reduce th...
